We are heartbroken and enraged about the ongoing murders of people of color by the police. And we are deeply moved by the fierce leadership of the Movement for Black Lives, the bold direct actions happening across the country, and the white people that are waking up to the horrors of white supremacy, and ready to take action.
We are inviting you to join us in movement now.
What: Tucson Showing Up for Racial Justice mass meeting
When: Monday July 18th at 6pm
Where: Southside Presbyterian Church, 317 w. 23rd St.
All are welcome.
Throughout the country white people are waking up in this moment. There have been numerous of multi-racial direct actions at police stations and interstates around the country with white people putting their bodies on the line. There have been almost 100 new SURJ chapters popping up around the country. Denver SURJ organized a mass meeting where 500 people showed up within days notice. Join us to vision what our roles and work look like, and commit to taking broad and bold action in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives.
The transformational change that the Movement for Black Lives and communities most impacted by a long history of police violence are calling for must be supported by a growing base of white people taking action to dismantle the violent and racist criminal justice system. This movement needs all of us.
Come out on Monday night to plug into the movement for racial justice!
