SURJ Dallas: 3rd Convening

We are looking forward to our next meeting together this Sunday, 10/25 at the home of Melissa Ramos. This time we'll dive into tools of constructive dialogue when talking about race as well as to continue the conversation about liberation that we began last time, but newcomers are always welcomed and encouraged!

Bring a friend!

We will have some wine and snacks -- feel free to bring something with you, though it's not required.

Please call or text if you need assistance.

We want to ground our conversation in this recent documentary called White People. It's only 41 minutes long, so please watch it before Sunday if you can find the time. It's not required in order to attend, but will elevate the conversation if most people have been able to see it. Take notes of what you learned, what surprised you, or what you want to learn or ask more about.

We are being asked to show up right now, and we need your help.
Last year, Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old was murdered by Cleveland police. The officers who killed him have never been charged. Last week, it was leaked that the "experts" investigating the case deemed his murder reasonable. In response, Tamir's family has called for a new, independent prosecutor.
SURJ has created a petition to put pressure on the prosecutor's office and demand justice for Tamir.
I need your help getting the petition out to as many people as possible. Can you sign the petition and then post it on social media? If we all share this out today, we have the capacity to reach tens of thousands of white folks who want justice for Tamir.

Here's the petition:

Please reach out with any questions. I am looking forward to seeing all of you again!
